[UPDATE] Something I should have made clear here, just as it’s made clear in the linked article. This could all be a big hoax by someone that can work 3D Studio Max or Maya (thankfully, see below, Dan’s on the case at E3. Fingers crossed!)
[UPDATE] The artist who generated the images has been posting on the GBFans.com forums, talking about the job as well as showing off more concept renders. Thanks to Kingpin for the heads up, if not a link (shakes fist, old man style.)

Big ups to Clay, who spotted this news leak that Intec is at least pondering the possibility of releasing a Wiimote accessory that’s made to look like a proton pack thrower. The leak however points out that while the item is designed, it is still just a prototype, and no a final or approved piece of Ghostbusters merchandise.
Dan Elektro, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is find the Intec booth at E3. Assuming they’re at E3 – I can’t check the exhibitor listing right now.
Convenient timing that this was leaked today. Looking to drum up a response maybe? Oh, I’m sure it will do just that. Drooool.

Please God… I’ve been good.
I seriously don’t think this will be released. I mean, come on, how will this work with the actual game and how are you going to move the character? I am though, very anxiously awaiting the WII version.
I saw it coming, months ago… and it looks great!!
If they decide to sell it… I´m buying a Wii.
Reguardless if I have a Wii or not i’m so buying it. It will defintely help out with my proton pack I’m slowly making.
Me likey ^__^
I would definatly get this.
WANT! WANT WANT WANT!
OOOOHHHHH… so awesome… As close as you can get to owning a real neutrona wand, particle thrower, whatever it is, just so want it.
BRING TO PRODUCTION, WILL PLOP DOWN $$$$
It’s so awesome, i would buy it with no plan of getting a Wii!
Mission accepted. “Don’t worry. I handle this kind of thing all the time.”
Something doesn’t add up.
The proton gun is designed to be held with two hands however the game requires the player to use the wii remote with the nunchuck. If you’re holding the proton gun with both hands then how do you use the nunchuck?
Anyway, I like the design. I only wish that Nintendo would release a black Wii remote so that the colour fits better with the proton gun.
A trap pedal peripheral would be great too.
See what they should do to make this a plausible idea is incorporate the ward part as the nunchuk attatchment. Then all you have to do is add your Wii remote and you’re good to go! I’m gettin this if it comes out for sure!
The trouble is the nunchuk needs to be kept free so you can use it to physically toss the trap. And you can’t have the wiimote (which is shooting/holding ghosts) move around as you jolt the wand to activate the nunchuk trap throw.
WOW. I didn’t even this of this. PLEASE MAKE IT
Damn I’m going to have to get a wii now! I was getting the PS3, PS2, & PCDVD versions all along with the Blu-ray gift set and game guide book. But I guess I’ll have to give up my life savings and retirement fund too.
lol
Not a Wii fan at all but this would look sick by my TV lol. I seriously hope they make these.
Aw man, I hope this ain’t a hoax! As long as there’s a Ghost Trap with the Wii Nunchuck as the handle and maybe the Wii console could fit into a Proton Pack for easy carrying and storage, I’ll believe anything you say.
A member of GBFans broke the story on that forum, it would appear he has a active role in its development, and has been paid for services rendered. He’s also posted further development illustrations including ideas for the nunchuck controller.
Sigh – you’re going to make me go look for a link, aren’t you?
I’m not seeing it, Ben. Can you give us a link? I love driving traffic over to GBFans!
This would be killer. The ULTIMATE GB Game/Wii acessory if true !!!!!

thanks dev, I finally founded. It’s in the post update.
Dam. I would definitely buy this if it was real. I have a wii, it’ll go great!
I wanted to comment on some thoughts and concerns. How would this work since the proton gun is held with two hands but you need the nunchuk to move the character?
Simple. As some of the comments above mention, the nunchuk would fit inside and the joystick would probably come out where the switches are on the inward pointing side to the right of the handle that the cord attaches to. Most likely the other button (or buttons?) would stick out here or etc so that they are still functional.
However a very good thought was brought up. You need the nunchuk separate to throw the trap, right? Well, I was thinking, is it possible to swing both the wiimote and chuck forward and produce the same effect, thereby meaning a simple thrust to the wand peripheral?
Well, this is interesting, but I agree that there is a problem involving the trap mechanics.
I actually have to use the Wii Zapper for the time being and it actually works fine. The Nunchuck doesn’t have to be free to throw the trap. As long as you make a smooth straight lined motion, it’ll be thrown. I said it before. This comes out, I’m buying 6-7. two for actual game play, 5 because I wanna use them for props for a Ghostbusters Fan film I’m doing
