James “The Angry Video Game Nerd” Rolfe was with Screw Attack at E3, and gave his thoughts on the new game. Does he like it? Find out below (pre-emptive NSFW. Just in case.) For his previous exclaimation on the history of Ghostbusters video gaming, go here.

Nice. Wish he seemed more enthused about it but nice. Also I need him saying ‘ghostbusters” in that voice as a cell ringtone
Did he say Vigo was in it? That’s Awesome!
He’s in it… after a fashion. Bwah-ha-ha-ha (sinister foreshadowing)
James said that the actor that played Vigo(Wilhelm von Homburg)would be providing the voice. Wilhelm von Homburg passed away in 2004. He must have been mistaken, but it’s still weird to think that the image of a dead man would be a villian (If he is indeed a villian). To the memory of Homburg and Belushi!
The voice of Vigo you ‘tard not the actor who was the face. The did a voice over for him.
“It would blend into alot of things if it wasn’t Ghostbusters”…oooookkkkk !!!!! I could say that about every first person shooter. Every racer. Every platformer. Every adventure title. Every RPG. Every OTHER GAME !!! I used to have respect for James Rolfe…(AVGN). Not anymore. Just shows he’s the real “shit pickle”. Every Call of Duty and Halo is the same…but those titles are “great”? Give me a break.
I didn’t see a voice listed for Vigo on IMDb, but I could be wrong.
I think he needs to play the whole thing through, and THEN give an opinion. But then again, who cares…at the end of the day he’s just an angry video game nerd. lol
for somebody who ripped nearly every single Ghostbusters game out there for one reason or another; I am not surprised that he had already ripped this one I would be stunned if he could do a positive review of one single game.
He just seemed disinterested… Maybe AVGN is more scripted than we think… maybe he just is not an interview type, whatever, I’m beyond stoked STILL.
Yeah, but I think Rolfe was optimistic and was trying to make sure he the viewers didn’t accuse him of fanaticism thereby hurting the reliability of his review. From the comments I was expecting him to be angry and use lots of profanity, but I was refreshed by his words. I think he handled it well.
I actually agree with his opinion. No, I haven’t played the game, but that’s exactly it – it’s just a game and, yes, the best Ghostbusters game ever made, but is it really the best game ever made period? That’s a lofty title. I always knew this game would rock because I’m a Ghostbusters fan, but I never expected it to be bigger in popularity or gameplay than Halo or that morally bankrupt Grand Theft Auto series, ha ha ha… I’m certain that those will fade away and be replaced by “better” things in the coming years as well. The flashy machines and special effects, paranormal genre, and saving-the-world heroism of Ghostbusters is my generation. Stealing cars, mass murder, and receiving STDs of the GTA series is the current generation. I’ll stick with Ghostbusters, thank you. I’m sure they’ll stick to what appeals to them as well.
I’ve listened to some of Rolfe’s “serious” reviews of past nostalgia trips like “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” and “The Dark Knight.” And in contrast to his over-the-top “Nerd” persona – he’s pretty restrained and surprisingly insightful during these straight reviews. So it’s not that surprising that his reaction to this game is somewhat apathetic.
Ok let me clear some things up about James. Now ive only met him a few times and he is a very nice guy but thats not the point. I agree that he needs to play the entire game, I was at e3 along with the other dallas ghostbusters and ive played the game a lot in the past. I can tell you that it is deffanetly a fun game. I dont exactly agree with his comments but then again they wouldnt let you play past the second level they would reset the game so given that you are only alowed 2 levels of play right now doesnt give much room for anyone to say how great a game is. And i dont thing anyone should lose respect for him for or get upset with him because he stated his thoughts on the game YOU WERE ONLY ABLE TO PLAY 2 LEVELS!!! So what he said is legible weather you agree or not. Give him time to play the full game because personaly im sure he will. As far as his vids go yeah is scripted does anyone honestly think he just sits down and makes things up and goes with the first thought that comes to mind? James and the AVGN are two very seprate entities AVGN is loud and rude and opinionated and James is a very to himself kind of person. Again ive only met him a few times and will again in july but cut the guy a break.
