WHERE’S THE GODDAMN DEMO!?! MY HEAD IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE!
I’m with Bo on this one, only minus the caps and the swears. Where the heck is the demo already!?
To stay on topic… Hooray facebook ghosthunt!
LOL! I gotta agree, but in terms of this Facebook event, it’s still not reason enough to get me back on that time vampire.
I also have to agree with Bo, today is the 25th anniversary of the first movie…why on Earth haven’t they released a demo yet the game is 7 days away you’d think they would wanna drum up more excitement…and the facebook event sounds really cool.
That would make sense Patrick. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
the whole game is a popularity thing anyhow. No way I’d hit 5000 like the guy in the #1 spot. thats just nuts.
Yeah, I’m hoping they release the demo soon too. I wanted to use it to test my PC settings BEFORE buying the game. Gamestop doesn’t refund opened games! (Although I would keep it anyway and upgrade my PC) – also, I haven’t seen any TV spots yet and the game is out this week! It almost seems like they are underplaying it a little.
Do you guys not know how demo’s work? The usually always come out the week before the game release. So if you have a PS3 they update on Thursday. On Xbox live I think it’ Monday? So be looking for it this week.
A lot of the time with video games they don’t release the demo until the day the game is released, it’s starting to look like this will be one of those games.
@Kevin: Join us in not understanding how demos work. Many, many demos come out weeks and weeks before a game’s release, especially when a company considers the game to be one of their big titles for the year. I’ll assume that Ghostbusters is pretty big for Atari in their 2009 line-up. Hoping to have seen a GB demo by now is not a crazy concept by any means. Atari’s own Riddick game had a demo up on XBL a full month before it came out in stores.
Sweet Jesus, I just realized that today, my birthday, lands on the release date of Ghostbusters, as well as the 25th anniversary of Ghostbusters.
Makes me wonder, if such a ghostbuster obsessed guy that I am, if when i was being born, the hospital roof blew off, Sigourney Weaver woke up startled, the doctors exclaimed “This is it! This is a sign!” and Harold Ramis proceeded to say “Your mother” and punch someone. hm.
Probably not, but a nerd can dream. And yea, where IS that demo?
I like it! I’m #19 on the score board.
You won’t stay there for long! I’m #44 and I only spent a few minutes using it. You can guarantee that somebody will spend ALL DAY on there just to win. Possibly several days doing nothing else. So unless you are prepared to do that – there really is no point!
The app doesn’t work for me.
Yeah I was ranked #35. I came back about 20 minutes later and was ranked #75..hehe. Pretty cool though, haven’t found any ghosts out there to capture. I wonder what “sister” sites facebook is talking about that the ghosts will venture off to?
@Bennen: I said usually buddy. PSN released a demo for MGS4 about 5 months after it was out. So who really knows? But usually, from what I’ve seen, it’s the week before it hits stores.
So any day then… I mean, it’s perfectly legitimate to expect it BEFORE the game. Especially for PC since it is reasonable to assume that your customers might want to test the game graphically before they purchase it… we shall see.
The trouble is that demos are released prior to the full-game release in order to attract more attention – Ghostbusters, by comparison to other games, already has a very high profile. There is a very real chance that the demo won’t come out until after the full-game release, in order to attract stragglers.
castewar has a really good point. Demos are out there to kind of give you taste of what a new game is going to be and maybe get anyone on the fence about it to give it a shot. Ghostbusters is a big title that has drawn a lot of attention. They might actually push the demo back a ways to snag people who may have just got a new system or anyone who’s forgot about it and would want to give it a shot. I’m still hoping for Thursday though.
Worth noting: The prize winners for the contest aren’t determined by the number of points you accumulate. The winners will be determined through a random drawing. So I guess accumulating points is just for fun and to promote the product.
1Rockteer, tis my birthday too and thought just the same thing. Hope you’re having a good one.
Castewar does have a great point. However, as a casual gamer I am attracted by the Ghost Busters license. In fact, this is the first game I have bought for a while. However, hardcore gamers are not going to be sucked in by the name and will probably be quite skeptical of the title and wish to play it first. I got to see the game being played this weekend and the guys playing it loved the little details included (Louis’ uniform with ear muffs!) and dialogue but said the game was just okay… I thought it was all beyond awesome – but I’m casual gamer guy.
the only reason i use facebook…

Everytime I post a comment on one of the news things I’ve been asking about the demo!
I asked GameStop about it last week and they said a lot of game companies don’t release demos anymore because the game sucks. They know that know nobody will buy it if they try it. The GameStop guy said he hopes it’s not the case with this game and I agree! It makes sence! I remember when they released a demo months before the game was due
Oh well…the boot leg should be out tomorrow or Wednesday on torrent sites! I pre-ordered a 360 & wii version… I finally don’t feel bad for having a modded Xbox
Yes, I have a feeling that the game will not work on my computer and I refuse to play the Wii’s cartoon version BEFORE the realistic looking one. That demo would be really, really nice.
@Robert – I thought the same thing, especially after Angry Video Game Nerd’s review. I’m enthusiastic for this game but movie-authentic ghost wrangling might not work in a video game. Then again, I’m extremely easier to please than most people.
