I’m trying to find out more information, but fans who bought one of Amazon’s exclusive Slimer Editions of the Ghostbusters video game are apparently getting the following email.
Hello,
We’re contacting you about your order for the Ghostbusters Slimer Edition video game bundle. We wanted to let you know that the items included in the bundle have changed, and as a result, the price of the bundle has been lowered.
Unfortunately, we recently learned the Minimates we expected to offer in this bundle aren’t available. We’re sorry for any disappointment this causes. To help make up for this change, we’ve lowered the price of this bundle from $129.99 to $109.99.
This change won’t impact our ability to fill your order–the release date is still June 16, and we expect to fulfill your order on time.
Again, we’re very sorry for any disappointment this causes. We hope to see you again soon at Amazon.com.

You know… I thought something was fishy when I looked yesterday and the Slimer Editions weren’t currently available anymore… I thought it was odd, now this kinda makes sense.

I can confirm that I did indeed receive that very email. While I appreciate the price drop, I was looking forward to the minimates since I’m planning to get the others… It’s not the end of the world, but to quote Peter, “Bummer.”
I just got the mail… this isn´t a tragedy, but I wanted everything extra that this bundle had listed.
But well… 20 bucks less it´s a deal.
I got the same email for my xbox 360 pre order. As cool as the minimates would have been, the slimer statue is my main reason for buying. I wonder if they will release these minimates later down the road.
I ordered the Xbox 360 version and haven’t received an email yet. Is this only happening to a particular system or all versions?

I ordered mine when they started offering it. I received the email this morning. Amazon sucks. Can’t believe this.
I am looking at the Slimer Editions on Amazon now. The prices changes are up and go as follows: XBOX360 and PS3 are now 109.99 and Wii is 89.99.
What else is curious is I had pre-ordered the Toys R Us wave 1 and wave 2 online of the Ghostbusters Mini-mates and I got an email the other day saying that wave 1 is backordered. I checked out their site and they removed all of those. They still have wave 2 up, though, with a release date of September. What’s going on with the Mini-Mates??

I received the email too. Interesting thing – I had pre-ordered the Wii edition, but the email is the exact same quoted (using the Xbox 360 prices). Glad the site has dropped the Wii price as well, as noted above.
Miguel, not Amazon’s fault. We shall have to see but this is presumably because the mimimates are not ready for shipping yet. They come out in July (I Believe) after all. A $20.00 cut is pretty generous I think.
Don’t know where else to put this, but here is a brand new interview with Dan Akroyd stating that 22-year old Oscar Barret will be a significant character in the next film…

I got the e-mail as well… Damn! Mini-Mates are awesome! I wonder if the “exclusives” to slimer edition will pop up somewhere else, or if they are just never to be?
Props to you, GhostWebbsta – I hadn’t seen that clip before, and even though I take any and all talk of GB3 with a grain of salt until I actually see a real trailer in a theater, I still love hearing Akyroyd talk about the past, present, and future of the Ghostbusters. His enthusiasm over that world is infectious.
At first, your idea of Michael Cera as Oscar made me cringe, but the more I imagine a scenario where Cera’s playing off Bill Murray and the rest of the cast, the more I like it. And with all the connections between Year One and Ghostbusters, maybe there’s a chance.
I guess he’d bring a slight Louis Tully-esque quality to the character

I didn’t think Michael Cera would really be a viable option for Oscar but as I was watching the clip with Dan a work colleague commented that he bets that character would be played by Michael Cera – my jaw dropped! What are the chances! He also thinks the whole movie will revolve around jokes about “Ghost Dicks”.
We shall see… but for the record, I hope not.

Venkman, I’ve been told that the Minimates allotment for the TRU website was fairly small and most of the toys will be in stores.
