Today everyone, at least in the US (I’ve pre-ordered here in Canada, and thus far, no call), that pre-ordered Ghostbusters: The Video Game, got a robocall (a pre-taped phone message) from GameStop, voiced by Dan Aykroyd, telling you all about the game being in stores tomorrow. Thanks to Tyler, Ryan, et al for the heads up.
If you’re not one of those people, have a listen and pretend. But you’ll still know, inside, that it’s a lie. Dan didn’t call you. And you’ll have to live with that forever.

Hey! That’s awesome. However, I pre-ordered but didn’t get this call! I must have been out! (Sigh)
I forgot to include the phone number (which is how I got the recording) – it’s an 888 number, which could cost you money to dial. I’m not sure. So, consider this my due diligence – if you don’t want to accidentally pay money, don’t dial the number.

It’s him. I got it this afternoon and squealed with delight in the middle of the mall as I heard it. The message i got was a bit longer though.
I don’t understand … Is the game available on Monday the 15th (as opposed to Tuesday the 16th) to people who pre-ordered it at GameStop?
It’s the audio quality. I got the call today when I woke up. And it IS Danny, no doubt. Though… the audio that Castewar put up is DIFFERENT than the actual call we recieved, for the ones who preordered. The one I received (and is still stored in my cell Voice Mail) is much longer, as stated above. And what Danny said was different. One of the difference’s being Mr. Aykroyd saying that my local GameStop would be open from 10pm-12pm on Monday so I can purchase the game. Though my actual local GameStop is different. When I went this afternoon to pay off the rest of my preorder, I learned they will be having a Midnight opening for the game. With demo’s, prizes, games and more. I work second shift, getting out at 11:25pm and will be flying up to my/that GameStop right after. Hells Yes !!!
isn’t the call early? (I didn’t get it either by the way!) I mean, the game doesn’t release till Tuesday and it’s only Sunday. Gamestop paying celebs to just torture me by telling me they have the game early but I gotta wait!? O.o *cries*

Early? 12am Monday night IS 12am June 16th. Though your right, when the call by Dan Aykroyd mentioned that GameStop would be opened from 10-12pm/am threw me off. As thought would still be the 15th. Unless you can get there and enjoy the fun while they kick things off at 10pm and can’t get the game before 12 or 12:01am. I’m sure they considred that that would drive sales of their other products. People who are going just for the midnight release of GB may find something else that catches their eye because either a0 They haven’t been to their local GameStop in awhile. Or b) They never shop at GameStop, but find other merchandise of interest. Or a combination of parts of both. You have to think outside the box like these marketing guy’s do. Hahaha!!!

I received the call today as well.. In fact, it caught me a bit by surprise, as I wasn’t expecting such a call. I’ve been on the job hunt as of late and when I had a missed call/voicemail that I did not recognize, I expected it to be a telemarketer or a place of employment interested in hiring me. Alas, it was the Dan Akroyd recording. It was a very nice touch, if I do say so myself!

Sounds like one of those birthday cards that play a recording when you open it! That could be a good money maker! should have kept that idea quiet, oh well.
No call from Dan yet, but then again I don’t usually get my GameStop robocalls until the evening before the release, so I still have time…

In my call, Dan said my GS would begin selling at 10:00pm today.
Mine stated that the “Gamestop stores will be open at 10:00pm for the midnight release of Ghostbusters!”.. That could be taken a couple of ways. I think I may head over there around 10:00 to see what exactly is going on..

I just got mine today and said that my copy of ghostbusters will be there by tomorrow……man I wish I was able to pick it up at midnight
…..but very cool though and yeah it sounds a lot like Dan alright.
Hehe I received the message today as well. He just says “By Tomorrow”. I’m not aware of the Gamestop where I pre-ordered is having a midnight sale. Unfortunately I am having to wait until after work tomorrow to pick it up, but you better believe I’ll be leaving early!

Allegedly Aykroyd and Ramis are going to be at the same GameStop as me tonight. I sure hope so. I’ll take pictures if they are. Hint- it’s in Chicago.
