Harold Ramis, busy promoting his new film, Year One, spent a little time talking about Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters the Video Game, and Ghostbusters 3. Not a lot, but it’s that he’s talking about it on late night TV that’s satisfying.
Big thanks to the, literally, dozens of you that emailed in links, and thanks to Chad at Ghostbusters.net for posting the video.

Loved hearing The Roots play Ghostbusters and it was really good to see Harold again.
And big thanks to Jimmy Fallon, for dropping the IQ of his viewers a good dozen points.
Very fun interview. And Year One…actually…looks…FUNNY ! Unlike all the other comedy crap that’s churned out, labeled funny, and sure the HELK IS NOT !!! I will be there the weekend it opens! I love how the crowd cheered for GB3! It MUST BE!!! And that joke Harold made about his weight….well, he’s so close to being as skinny as he once was. I can’t be the only one to notice he’s lost ALOT of weight! He looks healthy and fantastic!
That interview was “super-duper” lame.
I don’t quite know what you were expecting, Preston Postle.. This is a typical late night television promotional stop. It covered all of the basis (Year One, GB Blu-Ray, GB Game and potential sequel). Obviously, not a very ground breaking ‘interview’, but it accomplished what it set out to do.. Promote.
Yes! Now everyone that saw Fallon play with Project Natal will hear about Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Excellent! ;D
love how it was the PS3 version of the game! haha
he’s like he was in his Groundhog Day’s cameo….
but not fat like he was in Knocked up.
A HORRIFIC thought jut popped into my head, a serious and alarmingly real prospect of repercussions through us getting Ghostbusters 3 after all these years.
If the concept of GB3 is passing on the torch, introducing new busters, if the film is a sucess then it could spawn many a dreadfull sequel to this. Not created for the love of Ghostbusters , but movies made that are orders from the fat cats to make money and totally ruin the legacy………………..
impossible! Dan, Bill, Harold, Reitman and Columbia own the rights of th efranchise…EVERY SINGLE PROJECT RELATED TO IT have to be approved by them. If one of them dislike the project, everything’s stopped.
Oh man, GB2 gets the shaft again!
I’m celebrating the 20th anniversary of Ghostbusters 2. Long live the Silent Majority, albeit re purposed.

I’ve already realized this long ago, my friend the bucket. And yet that’s exactly what GB3 is. Partially. Sure, it’s the real third sequel, but come on. They’re old and want to pass it on to another group. Why? So they can and will make more. And that means a mixture of exactly what you said. But don’t worry. That’s what created the cartoon series. So, in other words, they won’t be as great as the original movie, but possible sequels will at least be good. I’m more afraid that they will cater to the newer generation myself – their comedy and movie tastes. VERY AFRAID.
Let me rephrase – “MIGHT POSSIBLY be good.”
I really dont know anymore. I like the rest of you guys am a ghosthead die hard. It was just the closing of that interview, it just suddenly struck me how it could be the begining of the end, tho I’m open minded for it not to be.
Up until this morning I couldnt wait for GB3, and then ”it just popped in there”!
I had sudden horrific flashes of spin offs alike the Ace ventura pet detective jr, home alone 3,4,5…..Jason infinity!!
I’d love to see a full blown updated graphic of a proton stream and explore more visuals of the modernised containment unit, but now I have that niggling worry in my head.
I can agree Ghostbusters is a comedy, tho it took until my late teens to realise the comedy as I was far to immersed in the film but I just cant hack the thought of people such as
Jack Black
Chris Rock
Ben Stiller
Jesse Owen
Vince Vaughn
and so on, the comedy was far more sceptical and underlined with a subtle tone, whereas todays big comedys are all out obvious comedy, campness and such.
Maybe it was the generation of actor that Ramis and co were, maybe it was the 80’s, but just trying to picture the new film being led by new people just doesnt sit with me. Ghostbusters are Murray, Ackroyd Ramis and Hudson, yes the proton packs and the excitement is what also greatly captures you but it’s those four men that hooks it………..
GB2 needs more love Harold!
lol@ his GB2 comment.
I bitch about this elsewhere, but Jimmy Fallon is one of the worst late-night hosts of all-time. Seriously, how awkward was that five-minute interview? He must’ve said super duper 100 times. I hate him. I also bet he wet himself when Ramis jokingly suggested he appear in a third film. Fuckin’ a.
Good to actually see Harold again though.
Ghostbusters 3 is happening! I wish that Harold would of talked more about it. On the GB3 Imdb it says that Jack Black wants to be a new trainer for Ghostbusters 3. Harold direct Year One with Black and he told Harold that he wants to be trained to catch the ghost in GB3. It’s moving forward and it’s coming in 2012!

Sorry, Ray. By “super-duper lame,” I was mocking both Jimmy Fallon’s amateurish style and his embarrassing usage of the phrase “super duper.” I did not mean, of course, to complain about our man Ramis or any kind of publicity for the GB franchise in any form. It’s all good, as they say. Maybe even super-duper.
