[UPDATE] Ghostbusters: The Video Game is now available through Steam!
PC just caught wind that Ghostbusters: The Video Game might be available on Steam shortly. While the details aren’t confirmed, it’s looking like Atari is working to place the PC version of the game on the DDL service – this is good news for those against DRM, as it likely means the SecuROM system used on the disc versions will be replaced by Steam’s own system, which is much more invisible.
Stay tuned as we try and find out more.
[UPDATE] Sources say, yes, it’s coming to Steam. Now all that’s left is to wait for an official announcement and a date.

If you could update this before tonight is over I would really appricate it. I hope this deal gets worked out and it is on Steam tomorrow!
I have no control over any aspect of this – the deal could be ready for tomorrow or it won’t be done for a month. So I will update as soon as I know, but beyond that, there’s not much I can do. Buying now for sure or later, maybe, is your call. I can only tell people what I know.
I already got the 360 version preordered (got the call from Dan “Ray” Akroyd), and will only be picking the PC version up if it comes out on Steam. Thanks for the info though!
I love Steam, but the news that the PC version has no multiplayer is very disheartening.
I want to see this game on Steam, please.
…and I want too, that if Ghostbusters come to Steam, will be avalaible worldwide, please.
tonka
ghostbusters pc published by atari on steam will only be avalaible in regions that they are publishing the game.(probably only NA)
As it was speculated that one reason we didn’t get the multiplayer for PC because there was no viable matchmaking service, could Steam work as a matchmaking service?
While it may turn up on Steam, that is no assurance that it won’t contain Securom as plenty of other 3rd party games on Steam do use it. Also, as it’s published by Atari, chances of a worldwide release are next to zero.
Go to http://store.steampowered.com/publisher/Atari/ then click on coming soon. As of 3:35 EST Ghostbusters is listed, however, the link doesn’t work. It seems to be broken along with a previously released Atari game “The Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena” It looks as if Atari doesn’t know how to properly publish games on Steam…just like they don’t know how to properly include the whole game.
Game is now available on Steam to purchase.

Still no multi-player, though (it’s listed as single-player).
I don’t know anything about Steam, so I have no clue what the DRM situation is, or if it’s better than the disc version.
