Mattycollector.com has announced that their exclusive line of Ghostbusters figures – one a month – will start at noon, August 3rd (Eastern), with the release of their 6 inch Egon with Slimer (this is inferred. The text does not state explicitly which figure, but rather shows a photo of the 6 inch Egon with Slimer.) No information on price. Stay tuned.

i’m so excited! i hope ray is next! wonder what goodies he’ll come with.
According to Toyfare, and reports I heard, its one EVERY OTHER month with the release schedule like this so far: October: Ray with a 3D “No Ghost” accessory which actually looks cooler than it sounds, to be followed by Winston in December with a trap and snap-on light effect (“The Cone”.) YET still no word about Peter, and while last I heard he has’nt picked/approved a final headsculpt, I really hope Bill Murray does soon if he has’nt already. They’re going into production soon. And Peter, well, he’s just everybody’s favorite Ghostbuster. Let me state, I never ever thought this day would come, and honestly cried when I heard these figures were being made. Save one for me! I just want one of each! Haha, listen to me, I’m already freakin’ out that I won’t get them. Also, that report on mattycollector showed the SDCC “slimed” Egon exclusive, and it was to my understanding, this was the figure they were selling on that date. All I know. Peace, fellow Ghostheads!
“New figures will be available each month only on MattyCollector.com”
The people selling the figures say one each month, so…
Awesome! August 3rd is my bday!!!
I wonder what accessories they come with. I hope they all at least come with a default proton pack.
Follow the link and you’ll see that, yes, they come with a proton pack.
Good, Now Venkman can hit on Barbie and she’ll ditch that douche Blaine.
i cant wait for these! can someone help me tho, i cant see where to join mattycollector as i was told you need to have an account to buy from there so wanted to set one up b4 the gb figs come out so ican get them. anyway, i cant see where to do it, i just see ’sign up’ but that is jst for a mailing list, when i click sign in, it asks for a password?? i havent even entered one anywhere?
Last I heard, each figure was supposed to come with a pack in ghost. Haven’t heard anything about a release order other than Egon and Slimer first. I hope that the four guys sell well enough to warrant production of other two packs, whether they be two ghosts or figures of other characters like Dana, Louis, and Janine. So far the only thing that has been shown for Egon is the proton pack. I really hope all four of them come with a proton stream clip on that can be wrapped around the ghosts. Egon should come with a PKE meter, Ray with Ecto goggles, Winston with a trap, and Peter with…. well he’s the lazy ghostbuster, so I guess he should come with the sniffer from Dana’s apartment haha.
I
WANT
IT
What about the 12-inch figures?
August 3′rd is also my Birthday!! Already told the wifey what I want!!!

““New figures will be available each month only on MattyCollector.com”
Just because the person writing the copy works for Mattel, doesn’t mean they can’t screw it up. The fact that they call the Neutrona Wand(Particle Thrower) a “gun” is highly suspect. Hasbro doesn’t a Lightsaber a “Laser Sword”. Plus, they make no mention that this is the Slimed Egon SDCC Exclusive figure (announced in ToyFare #142, page 18). So I doubt the accuracy of the “once a month” release schedule.
I’d put my money on the Toyfare #141 interview with Mattel’s Associate Brand Manager, Scott Neitlich. At NYCC he told them…
-New 6″ once every 2 months
-Slimer guaranteed the first ghost pack-in because he’s so iconic. The GB with him depends on who’s head gets approved first. (guess it was Harold Ramis)
-Mentions that “slimed, marshmallow mess, red slime, grey outfit, brown outfit , the lab coats.” are redeco.
-They have a 3-year rollout plan
So all information points to the “regular” Egon release still down the road.
I only have room for one set personally, so I’m holding out for the normal/original deco of the guys.
But once every two months….that sucks.
Wait, so this is the only place you can buy them? I wasn’t expecting a huge release, but I figured something like Spencers/Suncoast would be selling these guys.
Re: Mills
That’s right. MattyCollector.com is the only place. According to them, they would need one of the big 3 to pickup the toyline in order to move enough product at a reasonable cost to make a profit. That would be Toys R Us, Target and Wal-Mart. Because toy aisles are so small and only a tiny bit of retail space is available to new product, the big 3 would pick some other line that has a movie and/or cartoon to backup the line.
Gimme…. me
John – new 6 inch every two months. Put a new 12 inch figure in between, and you’ve got a new figure every month… starting with the 6 inch Egon.
Castewar – I have been served.
Totally forgot about the 12 inchers.
I wonder why Toys R Us didn’t pick them up if they are distributing the Mini-mates. But still, Cinema of Fear/Cult Classics from NECA are only distributed at Spencers/F.Y.E/Suncoast and they are profitable supposedly.
Does Matty-Collector have a big supply of figures? I hope this isn’t limited to a few hundred, they will sell out I’m sure in the first week.
lol – it’s ok John. I think this is the most GB swag fans have had to keep track of since they were still selling the RGB toys!
Mills, it’s a matter of accounting. Mattel has worked the numbers and decided what an attractive price point is, then figured out how much they would make if they had to factor in shipping to Toys R Us, giving them a discount, plus their cut, versus if they just sold them themselves.
I’ve spoken to comic shop owners who have talked to them about bringing in case lots, and Mattel isn’t interested in offering them even a slight deal – if they want to offer them to customers, they basically have to buy them through Mattel like anyone else, then mark them up to cover shipping and a little extra – and in that case, most shop owners said forget it.
But, at least we have the chance to get them.
