MattyCollector.com has finally added a section specific to their line of Ghostbusters toys – this section is showing not just the 6″ Egon that was released at San Diego Comic Con this Summer, but the 12″ and 6″ Ray figures out October 15th and the 12″ Egon and 6″ Winston out December 15th (which completely invalidates the release dates they announced at SDCC, and suggests that they’ll be releasing the figures in pairs every two months, though that’s just wild speculation.)

12″ Ray’s headsculpt looks a bit off to me, the the quality and price of the rest make up for that.
Plus it looks like we’ll at least have 2 12″ GB figs by Christmas.
I’m holding off on the 6″ figs.. I just can’t justify their price.
wow i kinda hope they do release them in pairs, means we wont have to wait so long for each 6″ and 12″ figure.
being one who has the 6″ Egon/Slimer figure i can guarantee 20 bucks is sooooo worth the price… just wish the 12″ers weren’t $60 bucks a pop…
I love that there is a Winston Fig, just not diggin the caricature. Why the heck are these so pricey too? Is plastic that expensive? The world is full of petroleum!
Sucks Egon is sold out. Does anyone know if they plan on re-stocking or if you dont get them immediatly have you lost your chance for good? I was trying to wait and get what’s been released for christmas as that’s the only time I’ll be able to afford them, but maybe not.
@Jamie : I really don’t know if it’s going to be re-released, but there’s a lot on eBay right now.
Can’t wait to have the whole serie. My only critique is the flaccid soft-rubber neutrona wand on the 6″ figures. The equipment on the 12″ figures looks incredible, tho.
the face on winston doesnt look to good to me also why is it so… glossy im still goona buy it though
Probably all the spotlights they used, and the white background doesn’t help either. Even if the faces are a bit (in some cases very) off, it’s still the best action figures we’re gonna get.
With any luck, with 3D printers getting more and more affordable, I’m betting we’ll see perfect custom figures in the very near future.
I’m calling myself a hypocrite at the beginning of this post because I’m going to buy these. BUT, I still say it is malarky that they are using the SAME body sculpt for all four ‘busters. Best we’re going to get….blah, blah, blah…better than nothing…blah, blah, blah. Still sucks, period.
I guess I’m in the minority here, but I’m not a fan of these figures. The 12 inch figures look like their uniforms are too ballooned out, and though the uniforms and equipment are more to my liking on the 6 inch figures, I’m not a fan of any of the head sculpts.
I guess it’s a good thing I don’t like them that much. Saves more money to pay our real bills!
i love that trap that comes with Winston, the cable from pedal to trap seems soo short though.
just ordered my Egon off eBay cant wait to get it, Egon should have come with the pke meter And the containment unit, Ray with ecto-goggles, the cool no/ghost and maybe the giga-meter, Peter with slimer instead of Egon.
and the only reason I’d get Peck would be for the containment unit.

Ray’s face is simply to awkward. Maybe, mmmmmaybe I’ll grab a 6″ figure or two by the end of the run, but it’ll need to be an impulse buy at a Newbury Comics or something.

It just occured to me that the 6 inch figures are the exact same mold with different head sculpts. Kinda lame.
I guarantee you that these figures end up on store shelves by next October. It’s guaranteed money in the bank for Mattel. These are timed exclusives.
We can only hope another company will someday get the likeness rights and produce busts or statues of the GBs.
Honestly, do we need articulation points ? Who’s really going to PLAY with them ? Mine are still in the packages, else they would be displayed on a shelf.
Just sculpt them in a cool pose, individually or in group. Something in the area of the MacFarlane LOST action figure. Highly detailed, some hidden points of articulation and a relief base.

I can understand all of the complaints here. These figures are overpriced and certainly not perfect. That said, I think most of us would still agree that they’re better than nothing. If you don’t like them, then just don’t buy them. The pricing clearly shows that Mattel had no intention of marketing these toward the casual fan.

They won’t be on store shelves… if that was going to happen with a Mattel line it would’ve been with their MOTU line, which is ridiculously popular. The figures pretty consistently (especially early in the line) sold out within hours. Those still aren’t in stores, so its very doubtful the Ghostbusters line will be. Unless there’s another movie, then they would put out a movie-line.
It just seems like free money, to me. What do they gain by keeping these items exclusive to this single website? I mean, sure, there’s most certainly an exclusivity contract that’ll net some up front money for them, but I can say with near absolute certainty that these figures will be on some sort of store shelf within the next twelve months.
The MOTU figures starting coming out in 2009, correct (I may be wrong on this one)? If so, that’s not a really fair gauge for timed exclusivity .

Egon went up for sale at noon on Monday August 3rd and sold out in 4 days. I don’t know if they always release their products at noon, though.
I’ll be buying a few of of the 6 and 12 inch…I have nephews that are gb fans as well…makes christmas/birthday shopping easy for me.
My GOD!!!!!!!! Am I the only one, who’s eyes went wide, and draw dropped, after seeing the detail on that 12″ Stantz and equipment?????!!!!! His packaging is just BREATHTAKING!!!!!! And then, the KICKER” “Light-Up Proton Pack” !!!!!!! Wowwie-wow-WOW !!!!!
