I don’t think that the proposed two-movie Blu-Ray set was supposed to come with the extras. Looking at the picture from last year that you have on this site, the Stay Puft statue is clearly in a box that says “DVD” on it, and the two-movie BR and 2005 DVDs are shown separately. I get the impression that the two-movie BR was going to be two discs in one case.

The set is the same DVDs as in the last green-goo double-pack, though it apparently doesn’t come with the collectible booklet along with the 5 inch Stay-Puft statue, trading cards (that you can’t trade, as everyone will have exactly the same ones), and little tub of slime.

Looking at the tiny text on the back art I have on my site, which came from Sony’s press site, the “movie scrapbook” WILL be included. As Amazon hasn’t shipped my set out to me yet, I won’t know for sure until I have it in my hands.

The slime might be worth having, though perhaps not $30 worth having.

I feel quite the opposite. I don’t think the slime is worth having at all. I’m buying it for the cards first (I collect non-sport cards), and the statue second. I couldn’t care less about the tub of slime. And I will be selling off the DVDs (with or without scrapbook), as I have no use for them as they’re the same 2005 DVDs I already have/had: I kept the 2005 GB2 DVD I bought four years ago, which sits next to the 1999 disc; and the 2005 GB1 DVD is a complete piece of crap that I will not sully my collection with (the 1999 GB1 disc beats it in every imaginable way).

I actually feel that Sony made a really bone-headed move re-releasing those crappy 2005 DVDs with these goodies, instead of doing it as a GB1 & GB2 Blu-Ray set with the goodies. Of course, that would actually make sense and get EVERYONE interested in buying this, instead of the die-hards who just want the goodies. (I don’t think any of us is buying this for the DVDs.)

Basically, this is a mixed bag in terms of quality & features. Definitely not worth $30.

There’s been no official word on Ghostbusters 2, but it wouldn’t be crazy if Sony decided to not confuse the Ghostbusters 1 Blu-ray, by putting it out alone. Once that’s out, then they can put out Ghostbusters 2 and gift sets, etc, having already maximized and capitalized on the market clamoring for the first Blu-ray. There’s not official date yet, but Ghostbusters 2 is still due out soon enough.
