I don't think the cgi will hurt the special effects. I mean the puppets and special effects that were done can still be done with cgi and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. REmember this isn't some human they have to animate it's a transparent ghost monster. I think the spud would look terrific in cgi.

As for Crystal Skull. What is everpne's problem with Crystal Skull. You had to know that Indy wouldn't be the same. He's about twenty years older. There's no way he could pull the same young Indy. EVeryone brings up the fridge in the nuclear blast as being unrealistic.

Surviving a nuclear blast in a lead line fridge is unrealistic, but a priest ripping the still beating heart from a kid who continues to live until he is engulfed in lava while his heart catche son fire, or a persons face melts from the vengeance of God. These thing happens everyday. I can't turn the TV on without seeing a guy get his heart ripped out and still be alive as if nothing happened.

Come on, if you didn't like Crystal Skull because of script problems or direction or story I would understand but people can only bring up things in the movie that are simnilar to thing sdone in the previous movies that are hailed.

Liek the prequesl I think that the expectation was just too much and Lucas nor Spielberg could never live up to them but God bless 'em for trying.

Why wouldn't you believe that? Seems pretty typical of Sony to me and we all know that's what's going to happen.

"What they really want from us..." yes, Sony hired the writers...but there are five party who can stop GB3 if the plot isn't good.....and Bill then say "...part of it is good" (the script will need some adjustement).
I don't think that they success in reunite three loved actors from the 80's to use them in just 30 minutes of movie. Maybe Bill was...sarcastic!

I can't believe everyone just ignored EctoFreak's link to that article with a VERY TELLING quote from Murray.

“What they really want from us is just to open the movie and then get lost after introducing a new generation of ghostbusters, who can start the franchise all over again,” he says with a shrug. “I’ve heard the script idea, and part of it is good but, ye know, it’s going to be tough to start again.”

Dan Aykroyd said that he has the GB3 script and it's finished. Ivan Reitman said the samething that the script is finished and some of the GB's already approved the script and it's been accepted. Dan hasn't had the Production number yet so when he does from Sony then he will let us know and Production will begin this Winter of 2009. When Harold went to L.A. for a GB3 meeting I guess the only people who showed up were Harold,Dan and Ivan. Bill hasn't seen it yet but says great things about the Plot.Sigourney has already seen it and liked it a lot and that's why she's back which I'm glad about. Ernie hasn't seen it either or Annie Potts because she's back to. Belive me Ivan said that the script is Awesome along with Dan and Harold so after all GB's reads the script then everyone will be in GB3. Bill,Ernie and Anie WILL like the GB3 script because Ivan was talking about that at a Spanish place. It's still going to happen after Dan gets the Production number from Sony because Sony WILL like the GB3 script to. At the meeting Harold,Dan and Ivan liked the Plot and it's been approved! On www.IFMagazine it says that Ivan will produce and direct GB3 and they said that the plot will be that the Original GB's reopen up for business after all Hell Breaks Lose! When you click on that page click more news scroll down and you will see the Plot revealed. That was on this Monday on 10-12-09. See GB3 is already being approved by Sony already. Have a lot of Faith and we WILL get a Ghostbusters 3 in 2012!!!

Well Ramis did an interview not so long ago in which he talks about the craft of animatronics and optical effects. He seems to prefer them as do I.

I'd love the makers of Ghostbusters III to revert back to the old way of building puppets, models and doing matte paintings.

All the Crystal Skull and SW Prequel talk aside (which I think is definitely worth mentioning as an indicator of how NOT to do a sequel), I'm actually mostly concerned about how CGI will affect the feel of the ghostly encounters. I'd really like to see a mix of cg and prosthetics. I don't care how good you think you are at 3D modeling/texturing/lighting, there is no way you could replicate the authentically scary transformation of the library ghost in 3D and have it look anywhere as convincing as it did in the first film.

Ghostbusters III needs to be original. It must avoid being too predictable. It needs to offer a brand new story and not feel repetitious or a like a repeat. It cannot make the mistake that Ghostbusters II did. It must offer something fresh and interesting but I don't think that this should be done with the introduction of a new team.

It also needs to be funny. It needs to be scary. It should concentrate on the characters and not the speacial effects. It must have all the feel of the original in visuals and sound but it must journey in a new direction in relation to story.

I think this is what must be done in order to make a genuinly good and worthy sequel.

I've been thinking about running-time. Imagine all of the movies you've ever seen. Now imagine the stuff that has to happen with this new plot idea and the screen-time it would take to set up 4-6 new and unique characters (we have to see their lives as individuals), we have to be introduced to the idea of why the GHOSTBUSTERS decided to pass the torch, introduce the newbies into GHOSTBUSTNG, watch the jokes involved in shooting a proton-pack for the first time, the cameo screen-time for the original four, the screen-time dedicated and devoted to the gender-jokes we have to hear based on the new 'formula-based' redefining of the gender makeup of the team, AND screen-time for Sigourney, and this is all before the plot takes off. Is it possible to avoid a 2-hour running-time without a sub-compact trainwreck of a film like this?
On a sidenote, this is possibly a good half-hour that I'd rather see without all of the predictable garbage they have planned.I'd like some surprise and excitement for my $12.50 ticket.

I've rewatched the video several times and i believe he is trying to do damage control, you see how he shrugs off some of the questions with casual answers and see it in his face. He knows about the script and he wants to hear from Reitman personally about it and i believe when it comes time and he sees the script he'll tell them the changes that need to be made to make it a great movie, he's probably been throwing some idea's around himself....The Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull movie was okay, but was way out there..would have been better if they featured a story involving the real crystal skull and not aliens..come on, Indiana Jones and aliens?..FacePalm..2 completely different genres

Wait, are we talking about Indiana Jones Crystal Skull or the Crystal Skull Vodka? I got some of that Vodka and thought it was good, it's meant for drinking not for "HOLY CRAP! Let's so how F-ing Wasted i can get by chugging the whole bottle in 5 seconds!! AaaAhHHh...AaaghAGHaGhHgH!!" this is just wrong in every way, these people that think that they have to drink like this are either 16 or Completely REtarded, you have no place in society..cough..now Murray is just being cautious or from what he was saying, he is being lazy. that's what i'm getting from his comments "It has to be good before leave my house"..he's just not wanting to do it for some odd reason and it has nothing to do with GB2, i thought it was good, we'll just have to wait and see

I'm thinking that we shouldn't even mention Crystal Skull or any of the Star Wars Prequels when talking about Ghostbusters 3. No matter what you may have thought about the films, you have to remember that those movies were made by George Lucas... and George Lucas is NOT Ivan Reitman, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd or Harold Ramis.

We honestly have no frame of reference on what to expect. All we have is faith.

I have a feeling that instead of successfully rebooting ghostbusters the new movie will kill it.

I'd prefer to see a new cartoon series with the likenesses of the actors and definately another game, but only if it's better than Terminal Realitys effort.

Best approximate 1 ½ hour durations of my life:
	GB1
	GB2
	Fornicating on my birthday
* and GB3 will make that list NO MATTER what!

Crystal Skulls’ purpose is to enrich an occasion and intoxicate those who possess a stomach and small/large intestines that can be plopped down in a theater seat to be present for 1 ½ hours of ghostbustin’ . I wouldn’t mind if they made shameless sponsor plug about it in GB3.

Never operate a nuclear thrower under the influence.

Aaron, no one gives a damn about what you think of Crystal Skull.
And as confident as you seem saying it's terrible then I'm just as sure saying that you're wrong.

Reitman's word's:

1- "For the first time possibilities are more positive than negative. Before we needed some twist to be able to make it, now if there isn’t any other major change we will do it"

This is not "The project is grenlighted" he talks of possibilities!

2- "It took so long to come to a decision about the new Ghostbusters because all the rights holders were able to say their word on the plot, and they’re a lot! It’s never easy to bring all these people to an agreement on something but now there’s a script, a definitive one, complete and approved"

mmmh....this is a little bit more definitive. What about Bill saying "There is no script"? I read the link posted few minutes ago....where Bill say that "part of the plot is good"..... the question is: Ivan say "there is a SCRIPT (not a draft or a plot idea...i guess Reitman know the difference between them all)a script COMPLETED AND APPROVED......and Bill say "It's a bunch of talk, there is no script". Who is saying the truth?

3- "The project needs the presence of everyone" again, this is no "Everybody signed for it"

4- "The videogame's big success convinced many of the people involved in the production that there’s still engagement with ghosts busting”. MANY OF THE PEOPLE INVOLVED...this don't means ALL the people

5- The second movie was some kind of exploitation of the first but was too heavily based on special effects, in that way losing grip on what were the driving forces of the first: characters and jokes. This is something I still regret and now I’d like to pay tribute to those wonderful characters with this new one”.don't means ALL the people involved...

here we go: don't worry Bill.....they know how to write a good story, they know how to not repeat the same errors!

Hmm, it intrigues me how Bill will sign up to be a badger in what looks to me like a crappy Hollywood take on a Roald Dahl classic (almost certain to flop on both sides of the Atlantic) and a Garfield <strong>sequel</strong>, and YET he still uses the "sequels are bad" line.

AARON:
<blockquote cite="AARON">Sure, Bill Murray has done his share of dreck, but maybe he holds more affection for the Venkman character than he does for Garfield, or for the guy he played in Space Jam.<cite></cite>

Umm... just so you know, Bill Murray played HIMSELF in Space Jam. He may like Venkman alot, but I think he has more "affection" for himself!

It’s Gonna Happen in 2012 so why worry? You guys go way overboard!"

Wait a minute! Who goes WAY overboard?!

It's sure as hell not us! Have you EVER read your own posts? Probably not.

I'm sure that Bill (as an actor/artist) will NEVER truly get over the emotional discontent that he received from GB 2, so I can understand him being a little weary of doing a third GB film. And I wholeheartedly agree with him not likeing the idea of basically re-hashing the GB 2 plot (reopening the business), but with a younger generation? But I will say this, if they do make GB 3, hopefully it will be THE last GB movie, because it just won't be the same without them (Bill, Dan, Harold, Ernie, etc).

<i>We finish on the future and Ghostbusters III. The news that there is third movie on the way has been chewing up the internet for months. Typically, Murray, who is next up in Jim Jarmusch’s fantastically droll assassin’s tale The Limits of Control, is not entirely enthusiastic about the idea. “What they really want from us is just to open the movie and then get lost after introducing a new generation of ghostbusters, who can start the franchise all over again,” he says with a shrug. “I’ve heard the script idea, and part of it is good but, ye know, it’s going to be tough to start again.”</i>

Great comments from the indisputable star of the Ghostbusters movies. If they write him out of GBIII I'll skip it. Ramis and Aykroyd don't have stellar track records lately (neither does Reitman) so Murray is right to tread carefully.

Sure, Bill Murray has done his share of dreck, but maybe he holds more affection for the Venkman character than he does for Garfield, or for the guy he played in Space Jam.

As for GB 2, I've heard him say for years that the script he read and approved wasn't the same one that they filmed. He mentioned something about the "effects guys" getting ahold of it (though I don't think the special effects are the problem with GB 2...). If the 3rd one doesn't have a strong story, and if it lacks the character interplay that made the first one so great, I'd rather they skip it altogether.

And "Crystal Skull" was terrible.

Bill Murray has already agreed to a Ghostbusters 3 that's what Harold said on Sept.30th. The script is done everyone has a copy of the script and Sony will like the script and they will make it because the Original GB's likes the GB3 script as well. Sigourney is back which I'm pleased about and she liked the script to and that's why she's back on board! It's Gona Happen in 2012 and I can't wait!!
