Big thanks to OMGBen for the heads up that the latest issue of Wired has a small feature on famous movie cars and where they are now. The Ecto-1 or at least the model that got auctioned off recently, makes the list.

It was supposed to be a few pages, with good photographs of the cars.
A nice big feature would have been nice, but I wouldn’t have put money on it. This is exactly the kind of thing Wired likes – short, sweet, illustrated. Still, it’s good, generalized exposure for the franchise.
