What started as a good way to share some great art and ideas with people who’d instantly appreciate them, has kind of gone nuts – Dan Schoening and James Eatock’s Ghostbusters pitch to IDW was enthusiastically embraced on the various Ghostbusters sites. By the next day, it was all over the web. And now major publications are looking into it, in this case, the NY Daily News.

This is fantastic that the Pitch they worked so hard on is getting alot of positive recognition. Congrats on this important step to realizing your creative efforts, and hopefully IDW will take a second look at this series
reading this feels like the first time i heard that speilberg was originally going to direct “return of the jedi”, but couldn’t because of all of that SAG bullshit… what a low-blow to ghostheads everywhere! this would have been THE comic book for us… the funniest part about this all is that this story about this rejected comic (which i might add, has been picked up by the NY daily news) has gotten more press and commotion than any of IDW’s GB comics have ever gotten combined!!! smooth move IDW…
I’ve got to say, while I’m happy to see anything coming out that helps keep the franchise alive, IDW’s take on the Ghostbusters felt kind of empty… Art was respectable, and the writers tried, but it all just felt… uneventful. Schoening LOVES the Ghostbusters. The volume of his work on DeviantArt is a testament to that, and the dialog in their pitch is pretty spot-on when capturing the feel of the banter in the movie. I for one, a comic collector myself, would be thrilled to see this sort of thing blossom from the fan community. If IDW isn’t willing to reconsider the pitch, maybe Sony should reconsider who they trust with their license properties.
well, maybe someone eles will pick them up or IDW will “reconsider”. No one likes bad press.
Holy shit! I never would have expected that. Sure, I knew that the fans would love it, but that the NY Daily News covered it – and in less than a week since it was released – is just crazy.
I noticed that they have a Stay Puft picture in their article that doesn’t appear in the online copy of the pitch.
