Holy crap!
80s Tees, purveyors of fine Ghostbusters tees and other merch, have posted pictures of their upcoming Summer release… a backpack made to look like a proton pack. Judging scale is a little tricky, but you can see it’s a beige canvas pack, with the body of a proton pack printed on it, and a smaller, round pouch, with the cyclotron printed on it. Attached to it by a black nylon cord his another pouch, this one printed with the particle thrower. What attaches one to the other (clip versus velco) is hard to make out.
But who cares? $40. Backpack that looks like a proton pack. I don’t even have kids and I HAVE to get one. Some day, a child of mine will wear that to school proudly. This is a considerable step up from Spencer’s Gifts Slimer pack.

Perfect for a halloween party where your fine proton pack prop would be in danger of being damaged… Drinking with this bad boy on would be a breeze!

Kind, if you have a look at the thrower pouch, it looks like whatever is clipping the pouch to the pack is repeated on the other end – given the length of the cord, you can hang it either way.
I remember wearing my backpack upside down back when I was a kid and pretending it was a proton pack. wish I would have had one of these babies.

I like it, but there is something wrong with it. The Particle Thrower is UPSIDEDOWN! The Handle should be ontop and the particle thrower pointing down. These people don’t know how to make merchandise anymore. I noticed they made a t-shirt like that about a year ago, it had a pack with the gun on the wrong side.
If it’s gonna be crap then don’t buy it.

Jenn, as mentioned a couple of times (comments are for both writing aaaand reading) it looks like the clips are on both ends so it can hang both ways. It’s not wrong, the photographer just didn’t care one way or the other. And really, if it was just the one way pictured, would that really ruin it?
The seven year old Nerd in me is furious that this wasn’t available back in the 90s.

They DID make one of these 20 years ago. My brother and I have one each. It was based on the Real Ghostbusters proton pack and there wasn’t a thrower. We wore them to school with our red Real Ghostbusters mittens. Sadly, only one of those four mittens is still around…somewhere.
Yeah my best friend and I met in first grade because I was wearing the Real Ghostbusters backpack/proton pack. Still friends till this day and that was like 21 years ago!!!
and this will be replacing the bookbag i am using to carry around my laptop. Hell Yes!
I’m with the crowd that wishes there would have been something like this back in ’86… instead I had the teal Real Ghostbusters bookbag, which had to do. Pretty cool idea though, not my speed but would buy one for my kids if I had ‘em (or if I do and am unaware)… it’s sort of like the Yoda backpacks they sold at the Star Wars Celebrations: cool idea, but just not me. I look forward to seeing these worn all over the Con floors though.

Just checked out the slimer back pack… Gross!!! LOL!!
I’ll definitely be picking up one of these. Now if they had only come out about 22 years earlier, that would have been most useful. Oh well. Maybe when the new 3D, CGI Ghostbusters series comes out in another 10 years or so, maybe my kids will get in on it… but they’ll probably also have holographic back packs at that point, too. *sigh*
Hot Topic will carry these too. The prototype is massive and they are actually trying to get it scaled down right now!
If you are freaking out about the orientation of the neutrona wand…you know, we’re looking at a picture of a prototype.
