Family Guy cards include one-of-a-kind Ghostbusters card
Posted on July 3, 2008
It’s a brilliant idea for selling cards - for every one box of card packs, Inkworks randomly inserted a hand-drawn card, created by one of 13 comics artists. The variety is amazing (click here for five pages of samples - and simple math will tip you off that there are hundreds more out there), but the prize catch is this Peter Griffin as Ghostbuster card by Chris Moreno (which sold for $150 on ebay - yowza!)
Thanks to Justis for the heads up - man, if only we had $150 lying around, eh?
[UPDATE] Good grief - A look at the first series, which also featured these sketch cards, had 6,340 of them, drawn by 14 artists. Some artists did over 500 cards each! And you can see them all here. Let’s hope they put all the series 2 cards up as well, so we can see if they did any more Ghostbuster cards (maybe not, but hey… maybe.)

Official prop replicas? Looks like a possibility.
Posted on July 2, 2008
This was mentioned in hushed tones behind the scenes a few years back, and presumed dead when nothing came of it - but that death sentence may have been a bit premature. Hints in the latest Master Replicas newsletter that they will soon be announcing some Ghostbusters replicas - unless anyone can think of another movie with the line “Back off man - I’m a scientist.” The question is then, what will they be making replicas of? Even money says a PKE meter, at least. But a proton pack, that seems like a long-shot (big!) - or they will cost a billion dollars. Early days yet - time will tell.
Thanks to Trendkiller at GBfans.com for spotting this one.

Two new game previews and 8 new screenshots
Posted on June 26, 2008

Thanks to Matt for sending in this link to Computer and Video Games preview of the Ghostbusters video game, which includes a nice, if brief, look at some of the equipment settings. Also, IGN has waded in with their demo walkthrough.
Also, 8 new screenshots went out last night - some are awfully similar (if not the same) as we’ve seen before, but a few are downright gorgeous.

Ghostbusters Kubricks at Tokyo Toy Fair
Posted on June 20, 2008

Big ups to RA24_4_Me for spotting this photo - MediCom (makers of Kubricks, particularly last year’s Back to the Future Kubrick figures) are showing off a line of Ghostbusters Kubricks and are they sweet. The Tokyo Toy Fair started yesterday and runs until Sunday, so we’ll keep digging.
[UPDATE]
Took a moment to blow up the pictures, so you can have a closer look - I omitted the GB logo, as it’s neat, but not the figure everyone wants to get a closer look at. Picture after the jump.

Another new t-shirt
Posted on June 19, 2008
It never rains awesome, but it pours… awesome.
SciFiTees.com has a striking “Who Brought The Dog?” shirt - I’m not a black t-shirt kind of guy, but that’s a pretty good one, and a nice partner to the “There Is No Dana…” shirt from FrightRags.com. The shirts are also excellently priced, particularly for anyone out there than is tired of getting dinged for having to buy XXL and up - all sizes are under $20.

New Stay-Puft t-shirt
Posted on June 19, 2008
Electric Zombie have started selling this fantastic t-shirt - full shirt prints like that remind me of old rock tees. I’m not certain if they’re legit, so you might want to grab one now before Sony cracks down (as they did on Cafe Press.)
[UPDATE] $20 for the shirt, and only $7 shipping to Canada. OK, I’m rolling the dice and getting one.
[UPDATE] Link added now. Dur. Thanks Keith.

Report from the International Licensing Expo
Posted on June 13, 2008
Matthew (he of the awesome Stay-Puft t-shirt - check it out and get your own) got to hit the ILE in New York this week, and scoped out all the Ghostbuster goodness;
I was at the licensing expo in NYC yesterday and the GB game was actually in the main entrance of the Jacob Javitts center (before you actually even got into the show). The Ecto-1 was parked next to a demo station, the giant inflatable Stay-Puft wasn’t too far from that. There was a guy from Sierra playing the first level demo of the game and he told me some new info.
I noticed as he played, the character had no life bar, he told me that there will be no life bar because Dan Aykroyd didn’t want that. Since no characters died in the movies, no one dies in the game. You can get knocked down and at worst knocked unconscious, but eventually another buster gives you smelling salts to awaken you.
I asked about the Wii and DS working together, since there were rumors of the DS being used as a PKE meter. He said they are still up in the air with that one, so we might get that, we might not.
Matthew says he’s got some pictures to send later, and that the game looks and plays amazing - Thanks Matthew!
[UPDATE] Matthew sent in the pics! Of particular interest is the shot he got (even though it was a no-no) of the game in action - check it out, wormy ghost… (after the jump)

First look at NECA translucent Slimer
Posted on June 11, 2008

Big ups to Justin for sending in this link to gamervision.com, which has a picture of the translucent Slimer that was previously mentioned. As suspected, it’s a recast, not a new sculpt. But it’s something, likely intended to maintain their holding of the Ghostbusters license while they work towards getting approval for a series of figures based on the Ghostbusters team (and other figures from the upcoming video game.) Head over to gamervision.com for a larger look.
No word yet (and certainly no hint in the picture) of what accessories will come with the ugly little spud.

NECA planning on GB game Slimer and beyond
Posted on June 8, 2008
AJ at GBFans.com spotted blog coverage of a Q&A with Randy Falk and co. at NECA - during the questions it was revealed that they are apparently planning on a translucent Slimer in time for the release of the Ghostbusters video game (no word on whether this is a new sculpt or a translucent cast of their original Slimer figure) - they are also looking to the rights for the likeness rights to the Ghostbusters themselves, though they have been seeking these all along, and with the in-game Ghostbusters looking so much like the real actors, it hard to say if it will be any easier to obtain those rights (particularly from the particularly particular Bill Murray.) Also, nobody thought to ask if they’d be making figures based on other notables from the game (like any of the new monsters or the new incarnation of Gozer.)
Regardless, I guess we can scratch this off the “big announcement” list for the San Diego Comic Con (before it even made it on the list.) Stay tuned.

More UK ads - Shreddies and Shredded Wheat
Posted on May 18, 2008
This television ad from the UK pre-dates the Real Ghostbusters chips previously mentioned - this time Shreddies and Shredded Wheat were promoting the first movie, with extremely awesome transfers - you wet them, then applied them to mugs, plates, etc, where they would set. Not sure how they’d hold up to a dishwasher, but they’re still cool. Thanks to Matthew for digging this up.
