Game Daily reaction to Ghostbusters game
Posted on June 17, 2008
Game Daily posted their thoughts on the Ghostbusters game demo they were witness too - overall, they had the same reaction as anyone else; they loved it. What was interested is that they said the game will feature music from the movies (plural) as well as 70 minutes of unreleased tracks. 70 minutes!? Some questions obviously come to mind - does this mean we’ll hear some of the music from Randy Edelman’s Ghostbusters 2 score? And where are they finding 70s minutes of unreleased tracks (given we have all of Elmer Bernstein’s GB1 score) - Edelman’s score was never released, so perhaps that’s some of where the 70s minutes is coming from. Hard to say, but as I said, interesting to consider.
Thanks to staypuft428 for the heads up.

Ghostbusters radio spots
Posted on April 14, 2008
I’ve been meaning to update the audio playback options here at Proton Charging, and what better way to give it a whirl that with these typical-Aykroyd radio spots. Many of you won’t remember, but in 1984, we had to listen to things called “radios” that would play sound, generated by little men inside the machine.
See if you recognize the backup artists. I’ve figured out one and a half.

(yes, the PC bumper is quite old and crappy sounding - it needs to be updated and I can’t find the source files. Bah!)

Dan Aykroyd tribute CD
Posted on February 4, 2008
A loose collection of indie bands in Pennsylvania have undertaken the task of creating an album entirely inspired by Dan Aykroyd. It’s completely tongue in cheek (one song is his entire filmography set to music) and not entirely tight (the cover of Paul McCartney’s Spies Like Us is spirited, if nothing else), but it’s all done with love and contains a surprise or two. Samples can be found here and the whole story behind the album can be found here.
Damn. Now I can’t get that song out of my head. “Ooo, ooo, whataya do? No one else can dance like you.”

We Are Legion - The Mars Volta
Posted on November 8, 2007
Just inside the new year, American prog-rock group The Mars Volta will be releasing their new album, The Bedlam and Goliath. What’s interesting is that the album is inspired by the bands dabbles with a souvenir divining (or ouija) board. Fascinated by the stories the board told, but convinced it had brought bad luck, the band had lead-guitar Omar Rodríguez-López bury the board and swear never to tell where.
Even more interesting is their explanation of what came next;
“The album is basically a sort of … it’s like the ‘Ghostbusters’ when they want to catch a ghost, they throw out this little trap on the floor, and they open it.
“(The) record serves as a bunch of little traps, so when the record comes out, people will have those traps, and they can play the game and try to reverse the bad luck we’ve had come from it. It’s our way of creating a little infernal machine, but we’ve reversed it, for good luck.”
Rock on!

RPjr on Singing Bee - video (finally)
Posted on November 1, 2007
Too short and obviously edited down for time, but still, it’s awesome to see Ray Parker Jr. singing Ghostbusters live.
Thanks to Andreas for the heads up and AJ at GBProps.com for putting the clip up.

More on the Roots of GB theme
Posted on October 25, 2007
Paul over at Spook Central has some thoughts to add to the various, potential “root” songs for Ray Parker Jr.’s Ghostbusters. Not as evidence of more nicking, but more examples that perhaps the Huey Lewis’s I Want A New Drug bassline isn’t as unique as he thought.
Confirmed: RPjr to sing GB theme next week
Posted on October 23, 2007
You’ll recall our mentioning that Ray Parker Jr. would be a guest on the Halloween episode of Singing Bee (Tuesday, October 30th, the day before the big day.) - well, promo spots airing now have confirmed what we’d hoped. Ray Parker Jr. will be performing his eponymous hit!
Thanks to the honorary Minister of Justis for spotting the promos.

Musical GB fanboys to appear in UK ghost show
Posted on October 12, 2007
McFly, who delight UK crowds with their rendition of the Ghostbusters theme (complete with a video the Ecto-1 careening around playing with them on tour) will be appearing on ITV2’s Ghost Hunting With…
Tom Fletcher commented: “If you wanna see four wimps completely s***ting themselves and running around in the dark for an hour whilst having ghosts throw rocks at them, then this is the show for you. Ghostbusters eat your hearts out!”
Give ‘em heck, guys.

Ray Parker Jr., THERE have you been.
Posted on October 11, 2007
Yes, yes, terrible grammar, but it’s my joke.
Jstin F pointed out that RPjr. (which is how I will type his name from now on) recently performed at Chiller Theatre 2007, and that is also up on YouTube. It is also, not lip synced. He also looks different somehow. Maybe the German show had a fake (kidding. Unless it’s true.)
So the question is, will he perform for his upcoming Halloween appearance?
