G4 footage, without all the jibber-jabber
Posted on July 24, 2008
(Well, less jibber-jabber. Those people get paid to talk, after all - but it’s not as much as from the E3 special.)
G4 has the Ghostbusters footage we saw last week in their E3 show with Associate Producer Ryan French, but without everyone talking over it, so you get a nice listen to the in-game chatter, including Bill Murray and his freshly recorded lines.
Thanks to Mr. Gill for the links - I wasn’t in a rush to post these, but I think Paul’s head was going to explode all over the PC comments in excitement if I didn’t.
[UPDATE] I don’t know what went wrong with G4 today, but I’ve found better, more direct link for the main video. Paul. There’s a link button at the bottom of the videos - please use it if you want to send in the other two videos as well.

Adobe media player signs deal with Sony
Posted on July 22, 2008
A bit of an underdog in the digital media race, Adobe’s media player got a bit of a boost today, when it was announced that Sony had signed a deal to provide them with content, including Ghostbusters, and a whole bunch of CBS shows. For more info on the deal, read here.

Real Ghostbusters box set art - VOTE NOW!
Posted on July 19, 2008

Well, this is it! TVShowsOnDVD.com has a page up where you can cast your vote for which box art concept you prefer. I highlight the word “concept”, so the comments don’t fill up with, “that looks bad.” These are not final art, but examples of what they have in mind. The final art, to be determined by you, will be different. The site even explains specifically that budget, time, resources, etc. will likely alter the final product. But that’s not important - what’s important is that you get to pick your favorite.
Both designs will be a slide case, with 6 disc cases inside. What’s really exciting is that both designs will have lenticular art, making it look like slime is oozing down the side of the front of the box! If you’re gonna have slime, it might as well ooze.
Judging from some of your comments when the contest was first announced, you’re going to be very happy with the options. Also, for those of you with Digg account, we should consider supporting TVShowsOnDVD.com, who have been big proponents of TV DVDs in general, and RGB DVDs specifically, and help spread the word - go Digg the article, and see if we can’t get it on the front page!
Vivendi Mobile Ghostbusters game pics
Posted on July 17, 2008
They’re teeny tiny, but they make it clear the game is an action platform that looks a lot like the old Sega Ghostbusters game. Cooool. I still want a game for the iPhone though.
The game is due out in the Fall, same as the other games, and will be available through Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile. Thanks to Raffon, my man, for the heads up.

G4’s Ghostbusters demo preview online!
Posted on July 14, 2008
Associate producer from Sierra, Ryan French stopped by the G4 E3 studio to show off the game - lots of great stuff! And more to come!
-Big point, you don’t earn points in the game, you earn money, which you can use to pay for your new equipment upgrades, but doing damage to the environment can cost you and the city. You can see the money coming in and going out in the footage.
- HA! And Ryan makes a point of calling it “equipment” not “weapons”! YAY!
- Comic Con will feature more, exciting news about multiplayer, but Ryan does confirm different multiplayer games for each SKU.
[UPDATE]
Anthony has a bigger, slightly longer, clip of the segment (complete with the Ghostbusters segue beforehand) that you can see here. You can also find a link to the high rez version of the clip as well. Thanks Anthony!

I heart Gary Owens
Posted on June 20, 2008
Big thanks to Lanny D. Crepit for spotting this YouTube vid of the commercial ABC used back in the 80s to promote their showing of Ghostbusters. The narration by 80s stalwart, Gary Owens, is priceless.

Oklahoma GBs launch GBTV
Posted on June 15, 2008
The Oklahoma Ghostbusters have a video camera and too much time on their hands, but instead of turning to perversity or blackmail, they’ve opted to launch GBTV - All Ghostbusters, all the time. Thus far they have a selection of highly hilarious commercial shorts as well as some other footage, and they promise to be adding more, so don’t forget to subscribe to their YouTube channel.

Well, that’s one way of looking at it…
Posted on June 4, 2008
Paul over at Ghostbusters.net spotted this UK Volkswagen short, intended to promote independent cinemas. It’s proof positive that a good sense of humour and a keen mind will let you interpret anything as meaning anything you want. In this case, Ghostbusters is a harsh commentary on a growing health problem in America.
I always thought the message of the movie was “Don’t take a cab in New York.”

London Expo Ghostbusters video
Posted on June 1, 2008
BiggBoss at Ecto-Web was at the London Expo last weekend and besides a boatload of nice pics for the event, he also took the time to record Sierra’s promo video that was showing. It’s worth checking out as it’s a nice mix of footage we’ve seen previously, and some nice new clips.

Yes, have some.
Posted on May 30, 2008
We’re two months away from the San Diego Comic Con and whatever that brings (a big announcement and a lot of new Ghostbusters products), and five months away from the release of most of those products. And like good fans, we want it all now. Now!
Which is usually when the imagination runs wild, so now might be a good time to take stock of all things Ghostbusters. After the leap, I’ve arranged everything in the works (and a couple of things that may or may not be in the works) according to how much we know. Some things are a lock (like the game) and somethings are borderline wishful thinking - if it wasn’t turning into THE year for all things Ghostbusters, they’d be complete fiction. What’s not on the list are hopes - like a new comic series, or toys, or whatever. We all have those hopes, and they could certainly happen - there’s been enough suggestion that there’s still lots of great stuff to come, but we haven’t heard a single thing, so no sense confusing the issue.
All right - so, where we at?

Return of the Ghostbusters cracks 3K on PC
Posted on May 22, 2008
By the time you read this, the most ambitious Ghostbusters fan film to date, Return of the Ghostbusters, will have been downloaded off the PC host servers 3000 times (imagine then how many times it’s been downloaded from all the other host servers and BitTorrent.)
And that’s not even the amazing part - the biggest downloading periods up until now were the movie’s initial month of release and December (which one would assume is because a lot of people are home for the holidays and have the time to watch) - but May has seen more downloads than those two earlier month combined. Which means that as the hype for the video game grows, and interest in Ghostbusters grows, more and more people will see RotGB! Congrats to Hank and the cast and crew - golf clap!

Siskel and Ebert on Ghostbusters
Posted on May 19, 2008
You’ll recall that Disney put their Siskel and Ebert reviews online, the only downside being that they only have the rights to the shows from 1986 on, not their earlier show. Well, worry no more - the Internet did what it always does, and has provided us with their review of the first Ghostbusters movie!
