Remember that internal Apple sales video, that spoofed the Ghostbusters music video? Well, that one was cut down by nearly two minutes, which we know now because the full version has popped up! The video now includes an appearance by Steve Jobs (in full Blue Buster gear) and concludes with a final battle at a rooftop temple of IBM. No kidding.
Woot! Hooray for owning a Smartphone! Details are very early, but here’s the overview;
The new game from XMG that we are most excited about is their new Ghostbusters title. This game has an augmented reality battle system, immersing you in real time battle against ghosts and ghouls. And I know you aren’t afraid of no ghost!
Equip yourself with proton guns and other equipment, and you can capture paranormal menaces like a true Ghostbuster. There are location-based features that enable players to interact with their surroundings and catch site-specific ghosts, like library or subway ghosts. There is also a social aspect that encourages players to team up with friends and other Ghostbusters. You can gain experience points (XP) to upgrade your ghost fighting equipment so that you can rid the world of these menacing specters forever.
Ghostbusters will be released for both iOS and Android in July (or sooner) of this year. It will be a freemium title.
Doodle Vandal’s awesome wallpaper set continues to grow and grow, as I have added iPhone 4 resolution wallpaper – because the old one I made looks sucky on the iPhone 4. Similarly, if you have an iPhone 4, I’ve updated Proton Charging so that if you bookmark the site on your homescreen, it is also in retina display resolution. Enjoy! Or maybe I’m alone, in which case, I did it for myself.
iPad News Tracker posted an interview today with Marcos Payan (with Fusion Of Ideas, the chain that laser-engraves in store), who was a first-adopter of the new Apple iPad who needed to distinguish his pad from others soon to arrive around his place of work. His solution was to have it laser-engraved with Peter, Ray, and Egon, as well as the Ghostbusters logo.
FOI: What did you have laser engraved onto your iPad?
MP: I had the three original Ghostbusters and the Ghostbuster logo engraved on the back of my iPad. Film has always been a passion of mine and the one film that I’ve latched onto the most growing up was the original Ghostbusters. That was the movie I watched over and over as a kid and really, it is the film that inspired me to take up film-making in the first place. I can still watch that movie over and over again (notice the ghost in the logo isn’t holding two fingers up. I pretend the second movie never even happened). I was lucky enough to meet Harold Ramis some years ago and he was kind enough to spend about twenty minutes with me talking about Ghostbusters and the industry in general. At that time I had nothing for him to sign and this was before cell phones had cameras on them as a standard. Now my goal is to get each of the Ghostbusters to sign the back of my iPad. Not exactly sure how I will make that happen …
