Ghoul tidings: A Ghostbusters Gift Guide

Last minute gift shopping can be tricky but, this Ghostbuster shopping guide should be able to help you out.

Here is a small of list of items out there that you may add to the holiday shopping (or Santa) list.

Amazon.com

The Real Ghostbusters animated series. One of the best animated series of the 1980s (if not all time) is now available and helps bring you back to your childhood. I guess it’s time to dust off those old Kenner toys.

Proton Pack, the backpack. Who knew a thrower could hold a cell phone and pens? This nifty item is $39.99 on Amazon and is hard to find in stores.

Slimer Sours. Why not add some retro looking candy to that stalking?

Ghostbusters Slime Pants: Open presents in style.

Spencers

No Ghost Pint Glass. Don’t you wish you could drink ecto-cooler in this?

Trap with logo skinny tie. Be dressy and nerdy at the same time.

Ghostbuster key caps (in-store only). Cover that Cadillac key!

“3D” Stay Puft belt buckle (in-store only).

Stay Puft pillow buddy (in-store only).

Thanks to Joseph Mays for the pics!

iTunes

Gift the movies for electronic download right on their iPad, iPhone or computer.

Diamond Select Toys & Collectibles

Stay Puft Bank. Pretty much the coolest bank I’ve ever seen.

Minimates. LEGO, watch your back.

Toys R Us

The Real Ghostbusters retro-action figures.

Posters.com

Movie poster. Add some slime to that empty wall. You can even have it shipped framed.

80stees.com

Baby blue logo shirt. Just like the one people wave at the end of the first film.

Inflatable Stay Puft lawn decoration. Because it’s just damn cool.

MattyCollector.com

You can’t go wrong with anything made by MattyCollector. From realistic action figures to movie replica PKE Meters and traps, Matty makes some really good stuff. Check out their store for many cool toys.

To be fair, there are a lot more items out there. These just happen to be some of my favorites. Feel free to share yours in the comments section below.

Happy Shopping.

Art Asylum shows off new Minimates 4 pack – SDCC / TRU exclusive?

Art Asylum has posted pictures of their upcoming Ghostbusters Minimates four-pack – these are the figures that were seen at the 2010 New York Toy Fair.

Surprisingly not included are all the accessories seen at Toy Fair – the set includes a PKE meter and “lab coat”, though it looks a lot like the blue coat Dana wears when she first visits the firehall. Both of these were seen in the Toy Fair picture, but now all the other cool accessories are gone – no spectral analyser, no sniffer, no stethoscope or video camera (with shoulder slung recorder.) Looking at the package, it’s hard to imagine where they’d go anyhow.

Officially called the We’re Ready To Believe You! Box Set (no series number given) the pack sports a San Diego Comic Con logo and Toys R Us Exclusive foil stamp. The only way to interpret this is that the set will initially be made available at SDCC this year, and then sold exclusively through Toys R Us afterwards – stay tuned in case that changes.

From Art Asylum;

Do you experience feelings of dread in your basement or attic?
Have you or your family ever seen a spook, spectre or ghost?

Then call on “We’re ready to believe you” Ghostbuster Minimates!
The newest Ghostbuster Box Set contains the guys doing their famous TV Commercial!

The Set includes:

Ready to Believe Peter,
Ready to Believe Egon,
Ready to Believe Ray,
And the scared and slightly desperate Dana Barrett!

DST unable to produce Ecto-1s, has pondered prop replicas

In case you’ve ever stared at their Back to the Future Delorean model and wondered; no, Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum cannot produce an Ecto-1, according to their license with Sony. This has come up a few times in the past, but it was confirmed today in the most recent Art Asylum Q&A. This is not a surprise, as this is something Sony likely keeps separate, allowing other companies, like Joyride, to produce their die-cast replicas.

At the same time, they haven’t entirely ruled out prop replicas – rather, they could make them, and they have thought about making them, but at this time, it’s just them thinking about it – no serious plans to date. Still, hope springs in turtles.

Will there be more Deloreans this year for bttf’s 25th anniversary and or surprises?:) Also, what about an ecto-1 car in 1/15th scale and a miniature for the minimates? There could even be two versions from both films. I think people really enjoy having different scales, not to mention that it leaves open the opportunity for 6 inch figs later. And for that matter why not an electronic prop replica of the proton pack ? Not only do you have the Ghost Buster license but you manufacture prop replicas…its totally obvious? With the newer film most likely Mattel will have the license and over simplify the toys due to mass production and moms groups who are concerned for their children. The same thing happened to dark knight resulting in crap like bola trap batman. I don’t believe that was in the film unless I fell asleep for thirty minutes, but I doubt it because the film was flippin awesome. So as you can see…. your our only hope. Thanks for reading all that. I appreciate it!

DSTChuck: Yes we do have another time machine planned, we’re calling it Rail Ready with the train tires. Ecto-1 vehicles are not currently allowed in our license. I have to be honest we have considered a proton pack or ghost trap replica but nothing is in the works.

Toy Fair 2010: How would you like to own the GB firehall sign? [UPDATE]

You know the sign hanging outside the firehall? How would you like one at, approximately, half-scale? Maybe more like near full scale?

Geek Week spotted this little puppy at the Diamond Select Toys booth.

No final details on size and price, but for now it’s “big” and “a lot.” Stay tuned!

Thanks to Gordon for the heads up!

[UPDATE] Gordon filled us in with some more details below – there will be a small scale and a 1:1 scale version.

popculturenetwork.com had a look at it as well, apparently, and discussed it in their latest podcast. It’s a little confusing, but if they are talking about the sign, not the neon, they’re talking $150 as a price point. Thanks to MK87 for that.
