Mattypalooza video online – check out what's coming for 2011! [UPDATE]

Mattypalooza, a Mattel specific panel to show off what they’ve got coming next for all their licensed toy lines, was today and video have started appearing online. This one is the clip that features the Ghostbusters license and their reveals for the upcoming year;

Real Ghostbusters Retro Action
The 8″ Real Ghostbusters Retro Action figures will be released in early 2011 and will be made available at Toys R’ Us and at online retailers like the Ghostbusters Fans Shop. The first wave of figures will be Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore.

Mattel rolled out prototypes of 6″ (5.5″ in reality) Louis, Courtroom Peter, as well as sweet accessories coming with future releases of 12″ figs (most likely the ones they said they’re re-release – the cool new accessories explain how they’re going to make them attractive to collectors who bought the first figs) – GB1 and GB2 jumpsuits, road-work/subway exploring gear, SLIMER THROWERS, TERROR DOGS,cameras, boomboxes, DANCING TOASTERS, and more!

I just realized, the Terror Dog head is not for a figure, but is the statue “Who turned out the lights” head piece for Louis. Bloody hell.

Nothing is too arcane for the accessories, as they’re even showing off the prototype of what looks like Ray and Egon’s glass jar of pop-corn from the interview with Dana.

Mattel booth video – PKE meter, TRU GB2s, and other 3 Retro-Action GBs!

Big ups to Clay Stone for the heads up on this Pop Culture Network video, which features the Mattel booth at yesterday’s SDCC preview night. The video shows off the just announced PKE meter prop replica, the four 6″ GBs crossing the streams on a temple rooftop display, and four 12″ GBs – but of particular interest are the four GB2 6″ GBs (yes, the Santa hats come off) that will be sold as a Toys R Us exclusive four-pack, as well as Winston, Egon, and Ray in Retro-Action figure form!

2011 Club Ecto-1 memberships on sale now!

The time is here – you have until August 4th to subscribe, but Mattel’s Club Ecto-1 subscriptions are on sale now, for a mere $20. For those that missed it before, here’s how the membership works;

Ghostbusters™ fans, your loyalty to this iconic brand is about to be rewarded… We’re thrilled to announce the all-new 2011 Club Ecto-1 — an annual subscription service that guarantees you’ll receive every 6” Ghostbusters™ figure released throughout the year!
How Club Ecto-1 Works

* Purchase a membership to Club Ecto-1 for $20 and you are guaranteed to receive all six of the 6” Ghostbusters figures released during the year. You also receive a club-exclusive figure (to be announced July 23rd).

* About every other month in 2011, starting in January, you’re automatically shipped the 6” Club Ecto-1 Figure, for a total of 6 throughout the year. Each figure is $20, plus shipping costs and applicable fees/taxes.

* Exact figures are announced approximately two to three months from each on-sale date. The January, March, and club-exclusive figures will be revealed on July 23rd at the MattyCollector.com Friday fan panel at San Diego Comic-Con, then here on MattyCollector.com.

* Figures begin processing (meaning they are billed and shipped) approximately two (2) business days prior to the official on-sale date. Along with guaranteed figures and the club-exclusive figure, this is one of our members’ favorite benefits because they usually start getting their figures sooner than non-members!

* The special club-exclusive figure will be shipped sometime around the first quarter of the year. The figure is included in the cost of the membership ($20), however applicable shipping and taxes/fees will be charged at the time of shipment.

* Special convention items, reissues, stands, or other accessories, are not included.

* All figures EXCEPT the club-exclusive figure will also be available at MattyCollector.com around the 15th of each month without the membership. You will have the option to buy additional figures, but availability isn’t guaranteed and the purchase limit is ten (10) per person.

About Memberships
* Memberships are available for purchase from 7/21 at 4 p.m. PT through 8/4 at 4 p.m. PT here on MattyCollector.com. They can also be purchased at the Mattel booth (#3029) located at San Diego Comic-Con during the convention.

* Once the enrollment period has ended, memberships cannot be purchased until the following year.

* Memberships are $20 each, plus the cost of the figures, shipping, and applicable taxes/fees.

* Your total commitment per membership is $140 (6 figures at $20 each = $120, plus $20 membership fee), plus shipping costs and applicable fees/taxes.

Response to Mattel’s Ghostbusters products have been so good, the company announced the formation of a special subscription club, similar to the Masters of the Universe club they offer through Matty Collector.

The announcement and details, posted today on the Matty Collector forums, is as follows;
