Mattel reveals ComicCon exclusive Ecto-1!

The San Diego Comic Con website has listed all the exclusives that exhibitors will be making available at the show, later this month, and Mattel, in addition to its Retro-Action Peter Venkman (and his haunted uniform doppelganger version), Mattel has listed an exclusive Ecto-1 Hot Wheels car – the car comes with a lot more paint detail than the retail version (especially on the roof rack equipment) and comes in its own display case, and more. Cost? $20!

The Hot Wheels version of the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 has been one of the most hotly sought after castings in the 2010 main line at retail. As a result, Hot Wheels decided to create the most detailed 1:64 version of the Ecto-1 to date and sell it at SDCC. Featuring a die-cast body, die-cast chassis, Real Rider tires, and a box that looks like Ghostbusters ghost trap, it’ll be sure to sell out fast. While supplies last.

No number on how many they will be making available has been made, nor if they will only be made available on a particular day.

Similarly the Retro-Action figures are listed at $20, but without details on when they will be made available or what numbers they are limited to.

6″ Slimed Peter Venkman & Slimer on sale 9AM PST tomorrow!

As you read this, I’ll be on my way to LA – I’m actually on a plane, right this second. I can see your house from here…

So, having written this in advance, I’m assuming the goes-on-sale times will be the same as before, and starting at Noon EST tomorrow, June 15th, Matty Collector’s 6″ Peter Venkman (slimee) and Slimer (slimer) go on sale for $20. Get ready to hit that refresh button.

And sticklers take note – they took pains to make sure his pants are untucked…

6” Peter Venkman™ Figure

$20.00
Maximum order quantity: 10

Welcome to Hotel Sedgewick, where it’s slime time all the time! Our 6” Movie Masters™ version of Ghostbusters™ team member Peter Venkman™ may be equipped with his proton pack, but the accompanying Slimer™ figure isn’t exactly trembling with fear. GBFans.com posts 4th Mattel Q&A

GBFans has submitted your questions and posted Mattel’s answers in a fourth round Q&A with the toy maker.

Short version! SDCC exclusive will be awesome, but no hints until April. 12″ Peter (snicker) comes with the basic accessories, but Winston will come with paperwork and brand name spongecake snack. Hot Wheels Ecto-1 will continue to be produced and shipped throughout the year (Mattel makes Hot Wheels, y’see?). And someone suggested a Barbie line of Ghostbusters, or at least her as a secretary – I say make her a Ghostbuster.

Hell, if they’ll make Mad Men Barbies, then then a Barbie suited up to bust some heads in a spiritual sense is totally doable. And shouldable. Secretary is so 1962!

As always, good answers need good questions by YOU, so contact GBFans with yours, today, for round five.

Mattel nails down GB release dates for first half of 2010

There’s been a lot of shuffling in Mattel’s 2010 schedule, as a delay in the Walter Peck figure seems to have caused a few ripples – but yesterday, Mattel clarified their previous clarification of dates.

April
Ghostbusters™ 12″ Peter Venkman™
Ghostbusters™ 6″ Walter Peck™ (with containment unit)

June
Ghostbusters™ 6″ Peter Venkman™ with Slimer

Oddly, the previously mentioned July release for 12″ Winston, isn’t mentioned – not sure if that means Winston is sliding now as well.

Thanks to WebScud for the heads up.
