Art Asylum announced on their blog that they’re taking a couple of their popular Minimate blank figs to SDCC this year – one is a clear blue and the other is the 2010 cousin to last year’s Ghostbusters 25th Anniversary blank. Again, the figure is featureless and black, but instead of Sony’s 25th anniversary logo, the new figure just has a regular no-ghost logo. If you’re attending, be sure to grab one! Grab me one too!
Surprisingly not included are all the accessories seen at Toy Fair – the set includes a PKE meter and “lab coat”, though it looks a lot like the blue coat Dana wears when she first visits the firehall. Both of these were seen in the Toy Fair picture, but now all the other cool accessories are gone – no spectral analyser, no sniffer, no stethoscope or video camera (with shoulder slung recorder.) Looking at the package, it’s hard to imagine where they’d go anyhow.
Officially called the We’re Ready To Believe You! Box Set (no series number given) the pack sports a San Diego Comic Con logo and Toys R Us Exclusive foil stamp. The only way to interpret this is that the set will initially be made available at SDCC this year, and then sold exclusively through Toys R Us afterwards – stay tuned in case that changes.

As they promised earlier in the week, MattyCollector.com has posted on their SDCC exclusives, some of which were outlined on Attack of the Show.
They released pictures of the Real Ghostbusters Retro-Action figure, along with some details. The figure will be $20, stands at 11″ tall, and as Peter is dressed in his movie jumpsuit, as in Citizen Ghost, there will be a variant, which will be a green-translucent Peter – fans will recall that the Ghostbusters movie jumpsuits take on a spectral life of their own. The post also confirms there will be four sound bites from the episode, which suggests there will be four for all the figures.
I’ve reposted their photos, but you might want to check out the Attack of the Show report, as the screengrabs there actually show better, closer details.
Retro-Action™ The Real Ghostbusters™ Peter Venkman™ ($20)
Our all-new line of Retro-Action™ The Real Ghostbusters™ figures arrives this fall, but you can get the first figure at SDCC! We’ll have an exclusive variant version of Peter Venkman™ as a spooky spirit when his outfit was possessed in episode 11 “Citizen Ghost” (variant version has all green clear skin). Best of all, Peter Venkman™ talks! Just press the button on his chest to hear four lines of his dialog from the episode.
You can check out their entire line-up of SDCC swag at their blog.
Attack of the Show, on G4, posted the second part of their exclusive look at SDCC exclusives from Mattel, this time with more focus on the Real Ghostbusters figure. And yes, it’s confirmed – the beige jumpsuit IS the Citizen Ghost version, as an SDCC exclusive.
First thing we see is some packaging featuring Janine! The suggestion is that the set will include more than just the four GBs – possibly even a Slimer. Also named in the packaging – Mr. Stay-Puft!
